DANIEL EDWARD MOORE

The Constancy of Seldom

I ponder faith infrequently.
But when I do, that doesn’t mean

some miracle made from yesterday’s trauma
is easier to believe.

If mirrors are at the right angle,
if tulips have been crushed like doubt

between pages in the gospel of Thomas,
then call me a lover of wrought iron flowers

because never has tragedy bloomed like this
in Rust’s cold stories of rain.
